When applying perfume, it should not be rubbed with wrists. Fragrance is best sprayed at a slight distance, so it will not drip, then let air dry naturally. If it is a splash bottle, then one small dab at a time is best.
Perfume should always be kept in a cool, dry place. Drastic and/or repeated temperature changes (like in a car glove box or console) can turn the scent rancid.
Other factors that affect your body chemistry, like medications, spicy or high fat foods, stress and pregnancy all affect how your fragrance smells on your skin.
Because fragrance rises, be sure to put some behind your knees (especially when wearing shorts or skirts). It should be applied to other favorite pulse points: ear lobes, throat, the bend in your elbow, wrists and between breasts. Remember, DO NOT rub.
These terms refer to the strength of the fragrance. They contain water & alcohol to change the concentration of the desired scent.
Top notes are the first scent impression only lasting about 10 seconds.
Middle notes are considered the strongest or heart note that determines the perfume family – spicy, floral, green, etc. This heart note appears about 10 minutes after initial application.
Base notes are the underlying ingredients of fragrance, giving it its lasting scent.
Perfume oils are fragrance components either natural or synthetic in an oily base with no alcohol. Created to be put on the skin.
Essential oils are the essence of plants which are the most fragrant & volatile (flowers, roots, bark, fruit, moss, seeds, leaves, and resins). Essential oils are the basic ingredients used by perfumers. They should NOT be put directly on the skin.
Perfumes bind better to hydrated and moisturized skin. Dry skin lacks the ability to absorb properly and can sometimes distort the true scent. If you have dry skin mixing an unscented moisturizer with your perfume oil or layering your favorite scent with the ancillary products offered (soap or shower gel, lotion, then followed by the same scented perfume).
